Heather: Have you heard the latest? Jason gave Whitney an engagement ring!

헤더: 최신 소식 들었어? 제이슨이 휘트니한테 약혼 반지 줬대!

Tiffany: You're kidding! I thought he didn't have any money.

티파니: 농담이겠지! 제이슨에게 무슨 돈이 있어.

Heather: Well I guess not. That ring set him back three thousand dollars.

헤더: 그렇지 않을 걸. 반지가 3000달러 짜리야.

Tiffany: He blew three grand on a ring?

티파니: 반지 하나에 300달러를 날렸단 말이야?

Heather: Yeah he probably maxed out all of his credit cards.

헤더: 그래. 아마 갖고 있는 신용카드를 전부 한도액까지 썼을 거야.

Tiffany: And he probably got taken. He doesn't know what things cost.

티파니: 바가지 썼을 거야. 제이슨은 물건값을 몰라.

Heather: But he always seems to get money when he needs it.

헤더: 그런데 제이슨은 돈이 필요할 때마다 아버지한테 받아 쓰는 것 같아.

Tiffany: I heard his parents have a lot of money and they always help him when he's in debt.

티파니: 제이슨 부모님은 돈이 많아서 제이슨이 빚을 지면 항상 도와주셔.

Heather: Well get this. Whitney is talking about having the wedding reception at The Ritz Carlton.

헤더: 있잖아. 이 거 들어봐. 휘트니가 결혼 피로연을 리츠 칼톤 호텔에서 한다고 그러던대.

Tiffany: I know that her parents have deep pockets.

티파니: 내가 알기로 휘트니 부모님은 부자야.

* set (someone) back : 비용이 들게 하다

“That bottle will set you back one hundred dollars.” (저 병은 사려면 100달러는 들거야.)

* max out : 한도액까지 쓰다

“When you max out your credit card, you‘ll be in trouble.” (신용카드를 한도액까지 다 써버리 문제가 생길 거야.)

* get taken : 바가지 쓰다

“If you pay $500 for that, you will get taken.” (그걸 500달러 줬다면 바가지 쓴 걸 거야.)
